THE BEST OF SUMMER WELLNESS

By August 1, 2024October 1st, 2024Health & Wellness

Did you know relaxing is an important “self care” activity? When we relax, our heart rate slows and our blood pressure lowers.

Research shows that relaxation helps to reduce stress and muscle tension and improve our brain function and memory. When we relax, our blood flow increases bringing nutrition and removing waste from our tissues, giving us more energy and lightening our mood.

A calmer, clearer mind helps us think more positively and improves our concentration and decision making.

Our immune system benefits from deep relaxation too. Less stress means less Cortisol, a great hormone for “fight or flight” but exhausting for our body in prolonged periods. Some of the best ways to relax are spending time in nature, releasing muscle tension and pain, deep breathing and guided relaxation techniques. Adding relaxation as a self care activity can help us create a better quality of life and enjoy improved health.

This month make relaxation part of your schedule and enjoy the benefits that come with a more balanced lifestyle.
