SLOW LIVING – A TREND WORTH EMBRACING

Does the thought of doing nothing “intentionally” appeal to you? Many are choosing to embrace the “slow living” lifestyle trend and are finding it inspirational.

People across every generation are looking for ways to re-direct their energy to areas of their lives that are meaningful. They are choosing to focus more on their relationships, self care and personal interests.

The “slow” trend places the emphasis on doing less things better, rather than faster. Practicing slow living can also offer health benefits, such as, lowering our stress level and blood pressure. It can have an impact on our social interactions by allowing us to be more engaged in conversations, listening more and talking less. As we learn to become more present, we increase our awareness of our surroundings and how we move within them. This makes us less likely to make missteps that could cause injury.

Taking 5-15 minutes each day to practice mindfulness or meditation helps us manage our emotional and physical health. The main benefit of these practices is that we learn to “just relax” and breathe. If you are interested in trying one of these relaxation sessions, here is a suggestion, https://www.tarabrach.com/guided-meditations.

This month, we encourage you to make space in your life to enjoy some “slow living”. It’s a beautiful season to give it a try with the changing colours of the leaves. Relax, breathe and enjoy. Happy Autumn from The Healthwinds’ Team
