Four demographics from Boomers to Gen Z have embraced the Self Care trend so fully, that for many it has become a lifestyle choice. Each, with their own motivations, from aging well to managing stress and anxiety, all share the same objective ~ to live their best life. Since 2020, Google reports show, that searches for the term “self care” have increased by 250%. Data from several clinical studies indicate that engaging in a self care practice has proven to reduce anxiety and stress and increase feelings of happiness. As well, these strategies can help us adapt to change, build strong relationships, and recover from setbacks.
Gen Z, has become a generation attuned to thinking about well-being. Although young, many are making an effort to improve their physical, emotional and mental health. They are recognizing the benefits of exercise, talk therapy, mindfulness practices and taking a spa day.
It is easy to get caught up and ignore the needs of our body, mind and spirit. Self-care is a continuous process. It asks us to be self aware, reflect and choose to invest in ourselves, to create our own best version.
